RED MEANDER - Weaving - Anni Albers
RED MEANDER - Weaving - Anni Albers
In Red Meander, Anni Albers follows her teacher Paul Klee's advice to "Take a line for a walk" and creates a meandering line that has neither beginning nor end. She uses a double-weave technique to shift planes and create a maze that moves between inside and outside space. Albers explored the idea of the meander in a number of variations through her woven and later graphic and printed work from the 1960s and onward.
